Casa Batlló

Antoni Gaudí’s masterpiece Casa Batlló is definitely one of the most famous (and busy) buildings in Barcelona–its iconic architecture is simply breathtaking.

The building was designed for Josep Batlló, a wealthy aristocrat, textile industrialist, who bought the house for business purposes. He wanted his house to stand out from the rest of houses in Passeig de Graçia. The organic shapes from the exterior are also integrated in the interior of the building–so much attention to detail is reflected in every room of this house!

Your ticket should include an audio guide so upon entering the building, at the entrance hall, they’ll provide you with headphones and a device for you to use during your visit–a virtual experience I highly recommend. You’ll be able to learn more about its historical context, architectural style, and design.

The patio of lights (shown below) was my favorite part of the house.
